![]() This will allow for 8+8+3 houses on three sides, that at a reasonable level of development will make for 1596 residents (that’s a lot). In this block, the buildings go inside, the houses go outside. It’s a tweak of the “flexiblock” I found on Pharaoh Heaven (google it). Don’t mind the fact that up to this point you’ll be in severe workforce shortage: once you’ll correctly set up your blocks, workers will start flowing.Īfter many, many tries, I sat on a 19圆 road tiles housing block, that envelopes an area of 17x4 land tiles. Now you can start building your housing blocks. So the challange is, designing a lean distribution chain along the river, while saving the space for the water supplies. The reason to save as much space as possible is because soon you’ll need to build the water supplies for the blocks, which can only be built on fertile land near the river. The “line” layout is obviously the most efficient, but it’s rarely available because the Nile flows in curves. This is perhaps the most crucial aspect of the city planning: fitting granaries and warehouse between farms and blocks, without wasting too much space. You’ll often need another 1-2 warehouses around in each map to accept food and stockpile it, to fulfill the requests from the Pharaoh. I like to put at least two granaries for every city “quarter” (I mean, a set of 3-5 blocks), and a number of warehouses: one for pottery, one for beer, and at least another one for the goods I’ll need later (papyrus, linen, and something else if needed). This is the intermediate step from farms to houses. The goal is, overflow your city with food to avoid any problems later. Build all the farms you can and whatever else the map allows. I did find very good posts (mainly on Pharaoh Heaven) detailing single missions and aspects of the game, but nothing about general strategy. ![]() The following will be probably no news to many, but I think it could be useful to some because personally I struggled a lot early to find a good strategy for my city layout, also because I could not find anything helpful online (maybe it was there years ago, but it got deleted since). ![]() I mean, the steps to build your city and win the missions without much pain. So, now I almost finished the campaign and I’ll share here what I learned. With the pandemic ravaging I have too much spare time on my hands, and after a year spent watching movies and reading books, I decided to give Pharaoh another shot after playing it almost 20 years ago.
